MY GREAT HANGOVER

Over the weekend, I got a chance to attend The Great Hangover tour with Asher Roth, Kid Cudi, B.O.B (Bobby Ray), & 88-Keys...if you saw the live chat I had yesterday, I gave you the unabridged version of the tour from my view.... shout-out to everybody's management and crew on this tour....they were all fairly dope.

DJ Wreckineyez came through to Burn Rubber before the gig...CHAMPION.

88-Keys also came through & did an in-store with us...

After I closed up shop, I ran over to the Music Theatre... met B.O.B. ....real cool peoples

The candids mostly always turn out dope in some sort of way

88-Keys stepped out first....his set was dope. I gotta give props to 88 for not only killin his set, but doing a Dilla tribute, especially since we're in the Detroit area...

Asher was backstage watchin everybody's set...

B.O.B. came out right after 88...this was my first time ever seeing B.O.B. perform live. He had a dope set too...I was impressed. What was crazy is that B.O.B.'s manager's mother is one of my mom's close friends..... small world

Dot Da Genius was backstage too... for those of y'all that don't know, he produced "Day N' Nite"

The Real DJ Drastic and Kevin Lamar... Big shout-out to Kevin by the way....none of this would have been possible without Kev

Kid Cudi's set was straight... what made his set dope was the LED light wall behind him, & the other lights he had set up during his set... the rapping on the other hand.....well........LOL!

The biggest blunt I've ever seen

Look at Kev's drum set.....DOPE!

Asher's set was one of the illest. As much as I hate to compare him to other white hip-hop artists, his set had a carefree Beastie Boys feel to it. The other thing dope about Asher's crew is that he & his whole crew love Dilla...he did a lil Dilla tribute as well. You could tell that his whole crew was just up there to have a good time, and with that attitude, everyone else follows suit...once again: DOPE

bluuuuuunt cruuuuuuuisin'

despite his security (who was actin like a punk), Cudi, his DJ, tour management, and the rest of the people around him were cool.

this pic came out dope to me...

DJ Wreckineyez killin that shit

So after the concert, we saw this clown....why was he a clown you ask??? Well, not only did he pose for a picture like this....

....but he had these terrible Fake Yeezy's on.... carry on.

  1. LMAO! this is why I love your blog. This ending was soooooo funny. PS everyone in Boston didn't like Asher's set.I thought his was dope and I agree that the only thing dope about Cudi's set was his damn light! a shame!

  2. These pics are dope except for the "clown".LMAO Yeezy fakes = Epic fail. Cudi didn't have on "nut cutters" his were fitting to his body. Now the Jonas bros, they have the nut cutters.lol

  3. i saw those yeezy's too.lol
my thing is if you can't afford to cop the real thing, don't embarass yourself by rocking blatantly obvious fakes.I'm sure he could have copped some dope official kicks for the same amount of scrill he dropped on those look-a-likes.
respect your opinion of course, but cudi's set was dope. won't be surprised if he has one of the biggest selling hip hop albums of the year. eaves dropped a bit when you were on his head at BR (stars, quasars, and swords? lol) yeah his bars aint the most potent but every cat out of ohio is melody driven(btnh).

  6. ^"let's be real" about what? I'm glad Asher closed out the set, and not Cudi's Kanye-esque Glow-in-the-Dark copycat set.... that shit was depressing

  7. Diff strokes for diff folks I guess. I loved his lights and visuals, and the way his set was so impromptu and engaging was just dope to me. I left after Cudi, can't stand Asher really.

  8. the fuck was impromptu about Cudi??? Do a song...lights go out...light come back on...do another song...LED effects...lights go out...blah, blah, blah = lather, rinse, repeat. The shit was like a poor man's Kanye show. Asher really put on a dope show...and from meeting both him & Cudi, Asher is definitely more personable, humble, adn you can talk to Asher w/o getting a sense of a big ego...

And I say this on Twitter and in my live chats all the time: I don't hate Cudi at all. When he sings, he wins all day. When he raps, it's fuckin terrible. And he won't do a song with Sean b/c Sean will outshine the shit out of him.

  9. As I said before, different strokes for different folks. Your opinion on Cudi doesn't matter - only how you felt about the concert. It blew me away, not only because of the effect but because of how personable he came across during the show. Unlike you, I haven't had the oppurtunity to meet him in person and can only judge the concert.

And are Sean and Cudi even in the same category? I don't think Cudi tries to shine lyrically like that on tracks. I think he sticks to what he can do, which is make an awesome song overall. I'll admit he has some terrible rap tracks, and I never fuck with those but as far as making an expressive and relatable track, he gets the job done.

  10. ^word. definitely see where you're coming from.... but don't necessarily agree with the 'opinion' comment. My opinion, view, feeling, angle, etc. all clearly matter. If it didn't, i definitely wouldn't have the million plus hits i do now.

  11. You were doing fine until that 'My opinion, view, feeling, angle etc. all clearly matter...million hits I do now' part. Case in point, nigga hit(and by hit I mean fuck) hoes, but that doesn't give any value to there snatch. Might not be your view per se, instead the information or entertainment you provide which give you relevance.
