SO I got a chance to peep this highly anticipated show (at least for the hip-hop bloggers out there), and of course, with every show where MTV makes a sorry attempt to discuss hip-hop and the culture, they are some discrepancies and items left up for debate. Basically, I made little notes as the show went on. So for those who watched it, you all will know exactly what I'm talking about...if you haven't seen the show...watch it here.
FIRST OF ALL, THE PEOPLE THAT MTV SELECTED FOR THIS "HIP-HOP BRAIN TRUST" HAVE TO BE THE WORST CRITICS OF ALL-TIME...I CAN TELL THAT MANY OF THEM SHUCKED NA JIVED TO GET ON TV...
Plies revolutionary?!?! psssh, that dude is straight trash!
I cannot believe that they would spend time debating on Soulja BOy being on that list...Soulja Boy on anybody's top ten list?!?! smh...no comment
#10 -- T.I. - A very dope artist, but I don't think he should be on the list
#9 -- Andre 3000 - Should be waaaaayyy higher..."so I'm watching her fine ass/ walk to my bedroom/ and thought to myself that's the shape of things to come (cum)" C'MON NOW! that's ridiculous
#8 -- Young Jeezy - SHoul be lower. I like Jeezy, but I think that he should be at #10 to start the list off
#7 -- Lupe Fiasco - should have been Top 5. "The Cool" is crazy and 10 years from now, that's an album that will still be in rotation amongst everybody
#6 -- 50 Cent - They made a good point in the debate how Fif has always made himself relevant...you may hate 50, but can't deny his hustle
#5 -- Snoop Dogg - Shouldn't be on a Top 10 list ever...he has ghostwriters...period. The minute an MC admits to having ghostwriters, he shouldn't be in a debate like this at all...
#4 -- Rick Ross - One of my favorites...his spot on the list was dope to me...
#3 -- Lil Wayne - Should be lower only because he has no album yet. Granted, lyricism and delivery is great, but "an MC's career cannot stand on mixtape alone."
#2 -- Jay-Z - Eh...to me, he has transcended so-called "lists" like these, so I would just leave him out of this one
#1 -- Kanye West - Hands down, deserved it...glad to see MTV show Ye some type of love
Aight, I'm out
